ARP offer a comprehensive range of services for successful development of industrial sites. We are able to provide a full service from initial feasibility through to project completion.

As with all of its projects, the Practice seeks to provide designs that are of a high technical standing, consider energy usage as a primary design factor, and provide design solutions that consider sustainability and future maintenance as core requirements.

Starting with topographical surveys of any site with an accurate record of boundaries, slopes, on-site features and trees and canopies, all to Ordnance Survey datum, together with engineering information relating to on-site drainage and other similar details. The surveys are intended for both Architectural and Engineering use and are provided in CAD format to appropriate scale.

The identification of ground stabilisation requirements, the letting of tenders, and supervision of works are often undertaken by the firm in areas where ground conditions cannot support development. The solution is more often than not the drilling and injection of grout to fill broken ground and/or voids from shallow mine workings and the preparation of validation reports to meet planning conditions.

Expertise in the requirements of drainage design for any development is considered to be a forte of ARP and we pride ourselves on preparing optimum designs of pipes and channels for adoption, generally under Section 104 of the Water Industry Act, but also for the adoption of existing pipes under Section 102 of the Act. Close consultations with the relevant Water Authority, Internal Drainage Board and the Land Drainage Authority, where appropriate, are considered vital to achieving effective designs. The department is conversant with the various principles of achieving restricted discharge and storage of surface water within any development.

ARP have extensive experience of all forms of foundation design and detailing. Options such as traditional strips, rafts, piling, ground stability and vibro compaction are all considered to ensure a cost effective approach in this area.

ARP do not consider only over sized pipes as a means of attenuation but also specifies plastic storage tanks, sustainable drainage options and private drainage attenuation as part of the solutions to achieve the agreement of the Regulatory Authorities. Hydraulic and Structural calculations are considered for each and every development and negotiations undertaken to obtain the necessary approvals.

Detailed levels across new developments are generally prepared as a matter of course, with a view to minimising cut and fill requirements and retaining walls, in agreement with the Client, to maximise value for money. This is considered to be a vital part of any development and essential to producing a cost effective approach, taking into consideration the existing topography, foundation solution and any remediation requirements for contamination.

Complicated walls to support the public highway, are part of the range of services provided by ARP and options for all forms of wall, including mass structures, crib walls and gabions are considered, along with traditional reinforced concrete structures. Our expertise and services cover everything from new build, refurbishment to listed buildings and conservation.

Our Building Services team have delivered many successful industrial projects, both in new build developments and refurbishments. The practice has provided engineering services in buildings from “shed” type properties to complex automated buildings. The practice has also provided flexible developments that provide core services for fit out by tenants, using flexible and carefully thought out design solutions. As with all of its projects, the Practice seeks to provide designs that are of a high technical standing, consider energy usage as a primary design factor, and provide design solutions that consider sustainability and future maintenance as core requirements.
